Reconversión productiva y nuevo modelo de agricultura en la Argentina de fines del siglo XX: Una mirada por el sur cordobés

Abstract

A partir de mediados de la década de 1990 se configuraría en nuestro país un nuevo modelo de agricultura; el cual estaría dominado, por el mercado, con pocos vestigios de la presencia de mecanismos extraeconómicos y fuertemente asociado a las revoluciones en el área de la biotecnología y de la ingeniería genética.Entre las múltiples consecuencias de este nuevo modelo de desarrollo del capitalismo agropecuario, nos interesa destacar la posibilidad de poner en producción áreas anteriormente no aptas para la producción agrícola, ya sea por sus condiciones agroecológicas o por estar dedicadas a otros usos, como la ganadería. Teniendo en cuenta estas tendencias, el objetivo general del presente artículo consiste en mostrar el proceso mediante el cual en el sur cordobés se habría configurado una reconversión productiva, es decir las prácticas productivas que históricamente se llevaban a cabo en la región habrían sido desplazadas por otras, o lo que es lo mismo, la anterior especialización ganadera fue suplantada por una agrícola, centrada en la producción de oleaginosas. Para ello utilizaremos diversas fuentes pero nos centraremos en el análisis de los Censos Nacionales Agropecuarios de 1988 y 2002.

From mid 1990, a new model of agriculture has taken shape in our country, dominated by the market, with few traces of the presence of extra-economic mechanisms and strongly associated with the revolutions in the area of biotechnology and genetic engineering. Among the multiple consequences of this new model of development of agricultural capitalism, we are interested in highlighting the possibility of putting into production areas previously unsuitable for agricultural production, either because of their agroecological conditions or because they were devoted to other uses, such as livestock raising. Taking into account these trends, the general objective of this article is to show the process by which a productive reconversion took place in the south of Córdoba, that is, the productive practices that were historically carried out in the region were displaced by others, or, in other words, the previous livestock specialization was replaced by an agricultural one, centered on oilseed production. For this purpose, we will use various sources, but we will focus on the analysis of the National Agricultural Census of 1988 and 2002.
