Overview of Archaeological Evidence on the Use of Inland and Maritime Waters in Latin America

Abstract

The chapter reviews the growth of the discipline of archaeology of aquatic environments (particularly referring to submerged remains) in the region of Latin America. It summarises the diversity of topics, chronological frames and environmental contexts addressed by the contributors of the book. It also highlights the academic training that took place in the last decade, allowing new generations of qualified professionals conducting research in this part of the world.
