Farmacovigilancia en pediatría: Neurotoxicidad por Metotrexato en pacientes con diagnóstico de Leucemia Linfoblástica Aguda, un diagnóstico diferencial a considerar

Abstract

El metotrexato es un fármaco muy utilizado en el tratamiento de la Leucemia Linfoblástica Aguda infantil. Uno de los efectos adversos reportados durante el tratamiento con este fármaco es la neurotoxicidad, la cual puede ser aguda, subaguda o tardía. Con el objetivo de destacar la importancia de incluir a las reacciones adversas a medicamentos dentro de los diagnósticos diferenciales por considerar, se describen tres casos clínicos de pacientes pediátricos con diagnóstico de leucemia, los cuales desarrollaron neurotoxicidad secundaria a la administración de Metotrexato.

One of the adverse effects reported during treatment with this drug is neurotoxicity, which can be acute, subacute or late. With the aim of highlighting the importance of including adverse drug reactions within the differential diagnoses to be considered, three clinical cases of pediatric patients with a diagnosis of leukemia are described, who developed neurotoxicity secondary to the administration of Methotrexate
