La nueva resistência popular em América Latina

Abstract

Los levantamientos populares contuvieron la restauración conservadora, recrearon escenarios progresistas y afrontan la redoblada contraofensiva de la derecha. Tuvieron efectos electorales inmediatos y provocaron la precipitada salida de los presidentes derechistas en Bolivia, Chile, Perú, Honduras y Colombia. En México, Argentina y Brasil el descontento social no suscitó protestas equivalentes, pero dio lugar a victorias del mismo tipo en las urnas. En Ecuador y Panamá se consiguieron importantes triunfos en la calle contra los atropellos neoliberales y en Haití persiste una sostenida resistencia al caos impuesto por las elites y sus socios imperiales. El análisis de esta lucha es frecuentemente desatendido por los estudios exclusivamente focalizados en la forma de dominio de los opresores. La evaluación de esa resistencia esclarece semejanzas y diferencias con otras regiones.

The popular uprisings held back the conservative restoration. They recreated progressive scenarios and confronted the increasing counter-offensive of the right wing. They had immediate electoral effects and provoked the hasty departure of right-wing presidents in Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Honduras, and Colombia. In Mexico, Argentina and Brazil, social discontent did not give rise to equivalent protests, but led to similar victories at the polls. In Ecuador and Panama, important victories were achieved in the streets against neoliberal abuses. And in Haiti, there is still a steady resistance confronting the chaos imposed by the elites and their imperial partners. The analysis of this struggle is often neglected by those studies exclusively focused on the form of oppressors’ domination. The evaluation of this resistance shed light on similarities and differences comparing with other regions.
