A função elusiva da memória mecânica na teoria do conhecimento de Hegel

Abstract

Ao analisar a teoria da memória mecânica de Hegel, a maioria dos intérpretesconsiderou apenas dois aspectos da memorização mecânica: o desaparecimentodo significado nas palavras mecânicamente memorizadas ou a internalizaçãototalmente abstrata da mente que as memoriza. No primeiro caso, a interpretaçãoconcentrou-se na relação entre o significante e o significado das palavras; nosegundo caso, concentrou-se na relação entre o signo linguístico como um todo ea mente. Entretanto, a posição específica da memória mecânica na sistematizaçãodas atividades cognitivas de Hegel não se baseia nessas duas relações, mas narelação entre o significado de cada palavra e o significado das outras palavras. Aomemorizar de cor fileiras de palavras que não estão conectadas umas às outras porseus significados, mas apenas pela força da mente que decide memorizá-las juntas,a mente se liberta de qualquer conteúdo dado externamente e sublima a referêncialinear do conteúdo representacional de cada significado à intuição em sua origem.A atualização do poder da mente de interconectar conteúdos de acordo com aspróprias regras lógicas da mente realiza, para Hegel, a transição para o pensamentopropriamente dito.

When analyzing Hegel´s theory of mechanical memory, the majority of interpreters have considered only two aspects of rote memorization, namely either the disappearance of meaning in the rotely memorized words or the entirely abstract internalization of the mind that mechanically memorizes. In the former case the interpretation focused on the relation between the signifier and the signified meaning of the words; in the latter case, it focused on the relation between the linguistic sign as a whole and the mind. However, the specific position of mechanical memory in Hegel´s systematization of cognitive activities does not rely on those two relations, but on the relation between the meaning of each word with the meaning of the other words. By memorizing by rote rows of words that are not connected with each other by their meanings, but only by the force of the mind that decides to memorize them together, the mind frees itself from any externally given content and sublates the lineal reference of the representational content of each meaning to the intuition at its origin. The actualization of the power of the mind to interconnect signified contents according to its own logical rules accomplishes, for Hegel, the transition to thought proper.
