En busca del eslabón perdido: reflexiones sobre la represión estatal de la última dictadura militar

Abstract

Este artículo propone una reflexión crítica sobre el problema de la cronología de la violencia estatal de la última dictadura militar. Para ello, en la primera parte se repasan los supuestos fundamentales de la historiografía sobre el tema. En particular, se trata de mostrar cómo la importancia y el impacto de la represión durante la dictadura han invisibilizado la continuidad relativa del fenómeno represivo entre 1966 y 1976. En la segunda parte del trabajo, se presentan algunos elementos históricos que muestran el crecimiento de la violencia estatal en esos años y, en especial, las características de la represión institucional que caracterizó a los gobiernos constitucionales entre 1973 y 1976. Esto permite establecer una temporalidad diferente para pensar el problema del terrorismo de Estado en la Argentina reciente y repensarlos relatos canónicos sobre el tema.

This article offers a critical reflection on the problem of the chronology of state violence of the last military dictatorship. In order todo so, the first part presents a brief review of the professional output on the subject andits fundamental assumptions. In particular, it tries to demonstrate how the importance and impact of repression during the dictatorship have overshadowed the relative continuity of the repressive phenomenon between 1966and 1976. The second part of the article presents some historical factors that show the growth of state violence during those years and, particularly, the typical features of institutional repression that characterised the constitutional governments between 1973and 1976. This enables a different chronology to be established for thinking about the problem of recent state terrorism in Argentina and for rethinking the canonical accounts of the subject.
