Ecos de una ausencia: Silencio y posmemoria en el recuerdo familiar sobre la lucha antifascista

Abstract

Este trabajo se propone indagar en recuerdos familiares para entender cómo un muchacho en sus veintitantos, enterrado con honores por su aporte a la lucha antifascista, fue apenas una sombra en la memoria familiar al tiempo que recibía reconocimientos institucionales por parte del Estado italiano. Lo anterior en el contexto de un tema particularmente complejo en la construcción de la Italia posfascista, es decir, la valoración de la figura de los partisanos. En la comprensión de dicha contradicción, trabajamos con el concepto de posmemoria entendido como un tipo de memoria vicaria y afectiva que permite procesar recuerdos traumáticos de generaciones previas.

This paper aims to investigate family memories to understand how a young man in his twenties, buried with honors for his contribution to the anti-fascist struggle, became like a shadow in family memory while receiving institutional recognition from the Italian state. This is linked to a very complex issue in the construction of post-fascist Italy, namely the evaluation of the figure of the partisans. In understanding this contradiction, I opt to engage with the concept of postmemory, understood as a type of vicarious and affective memory that allows the processing of traumatic memories from previous generations and is incorporated as a valuable analytical resource for understanding the problem under study.
