La investigación autoetnográfica en la universidad: una forma de resistencia a la gubernamentalidad algorítmica

Abstract

La modulación de conductas (Deleuze, 2006) debe ser pensada en la actualidad en el marco de la gubernamentalidad algorítmica. Para comprender y modificar las formas de subjetivación de la cultura algorítmica, hay que analizar las prácticas que la economía y la ingeniería de la atención generan a través del smartphone (Touza, 2020) y repensar cómo operan en ese marco las tecnologías del yo (Foucault, 1990). En ese sentido, presento y fundamento un proceso de investigación autoetnográfica sobre cultura digital en la Licenciatura en Comunicación Social (UNCuyo) realizada durante el primer semestre del 2022. A través de una serie de ejercicios de descentramiento enmarcados en el Trabajo Práctico Final, la investigación autoetnográfica tuvo como fin que el estudiantado universitario desnaturalizara y objetivara sus propias prácticas -individuales y grupales- con los medios digitales, en pos de replantearse posibles transformaciones colectivas en los procesos de subjetivación. Se introducirán algunos de los desafíos que supone investigar sobre cultura digital, en particular iniciando a les estudiantes de grado en sus primeras experiencias en el Seminario de Informática y Sociedad.Además, se presentará y describirá la propuesta de investigación autoetnográfica (Chang, 2008) articulada a la materia. Finalmente, se presentarán los resultados del proceso: la parcial desnaturalización de las prácticas con el teléfono móvil, la validez y limitaciones de la perspectiva de las tecnologías del yo para pensar la cultura digital y las tensiones y ambivalencias afectivas en las transformaciones en los modos de subjetivación resistentes a la gubernamentalidad algorítmica.

The modulation of behaviors (Deleuze, 2006) must be thought at present within the framework of algorithmic governmentality. To understand and modify the forms of subjectivation of algorithmic culture, it is necessary to analyze the practices that the attention economy and engineering generate through the smartphone (Touza, 2020) and rethink how the technologies of the self-operate within this framework (Foucault, 1990). In this sense, I present and base an autoethnographic research process on digital culture in the Bachelor of Social Communication (UNCuyo) carried out during the first semester of 2022. Through a series of decentering exercises framed in the final practical work, the research The purpose of the autoethnographic study was for university students to denature and objectify their own practices -individual and group- with digital media in order to reconsider possible collective transformations in the modes and rhythms of attention. Some of the challenges involved in researching digital culture will be introduced, particularly starting undergraduate students in their first experiences in the Seminar on Informatics and Society. In addition, the autoethnographic research proposal (Chang, 2008) articulated to the matter will be presented and described. Finally, the results of the process will be presented: the partial denaturation of the practices with the mobile phone, the validity and limitations of the perspective of the technologies of the self to think about digital culture and the affective tensions and ambivalences in the transformations in the ways of subjectivation resistant to algorithmic governmentality.
