Resumen
In this article, we review the historiography of Argentine Catholicism for two purposes. Firstly, reflect on some of the devotional models that existed and coexisted throughout the twentieth century: the “integrist,” dominant in the 1920s and 1930s; the “popular” in the forties and fifties; and, among others, the “liberationist” that emerged from the ideological boiling of the 1960s and 1970s. Secondly, from a conceptual and methodological point of view, the article analyzes the impact of the cultural and ontological turn on the historiography of the Catholic Church in recent decades, particularly, in the understanding of the Marian cult in Argentina.
