¿Qué hacen los legisladores con las leyes? Análisis léxico de términos asociados con la actividad legislativa en Licurgo y Solón de Plutarco

Abstract

El artículo se propone el estudio de la forma en que Plutarco describe, en sus Vidas paralelas, la labor legislativa de Licurgo y Solón. Se realiza un abordaje discursivo, centrado en el rastreo y análisis de verbos y sustantivos que Plutarco asigna a la tarea de ambos personajes, en vistas a su posterior contraste. Entendemos que el estudio de estos términos resulta un elemento clave para comprender cómo concibe el biógrafo la actividad de uno y otro, así como las implicancias filosófico-políticas que se desprenden de dicha concepción . Sostendremos la hipótesis de que la semblanza que ofrece Plutarco de los personajes está construida sobre la base de un planteo literario que tiende a homologar la actividad legislativa con el resto de la vida, logrando así un efecto cohesivo de alta efectividad didáctica.

The article proposes the study of the way in which Plutarch describes the legislative work of Lycurgus and Solon in his Parallel Lives. A discursive approach is carried out, which focuses on the detection and analysis of verbs and nouns that Plutarch assigns to the tasks of both lawgivers, in view of a later contrast. I consider that the study of these terms is a key element to understand how the biographer conceives the activity of one and the other, as well as the philosophical-political implications that arise from that conception. The hypothesis is that the portrait offered by Plutarch of both characters is built on the basis of a literary approach that tends to standardize the legislative activity with the rest of the biography, thus achieving a cohesive effect of highly didactic force.
