Iglesia católica y peronismo: Vínculos entre el poder político y eclesiástico en un territorio periféricode la Argentina (Chaco, 1943-1951)

Abstract

En este artículo nos propusimos examinar los vínculos personales y políticos establecidos entre el presidente Juan Domingo Perón y monseñor Nicolás De Carlo, obispo de la diócesis de Resistencia (Chaco, Argentina). Entre los años 1946 y 1951, este sacerdote se convirtió uno de los referentes de la jerarquía eclesiástica argentina más cercano al gobierno con el que tuvo muchas coincidencias que le valieronreconocimiento, pero, al mismo tiempo, el encono de algunos de sus pares. A través de este análisis buscamos indagar en la participación de sectores de la Iglesia en el proceso de construcción del peronismo en espacios periféricos del país.

In this article we set out to examine the personal and political ties established between President Juan Domingo Perón and Monsignor Nicolas De Carlo, Bishop of the Diocese of Resistencia (Chaco, Argentina). Between the years 1946 and 1951, this priest became one of the referents of the Argentine ecclesiastical hierarchy closest to the government with which he had many coincidences that earned him recognition, but, at the same time, the anger of some of his peers. Through this analysis we seek to investigate the participation of sectors of the Church in the process of building Peronism in peripheral areas of the country.
