Recepciones en los poblados guaraní tutelados por Jesuitas: La cultura barroca en prácticas rituales y efímeras

Abstract

El artículo se propone estudiar las recepciones que se desarrollaban durante las visitas a las reducciones del Paraguay, desde los misioneros y superiores de la orden hasta los obispos pasando por los gobernadores. El enfoque se hace sobre estas poblaciones indígenas a cargo de los jesuitas desde la creación de las primeras reducciones hasta la expulsión. La pregunta que nos formulamos es en qué medida se modifican las estructuras poblacionales frente a las celebraciones dadas en el entorno propio del barroco donde las ritualidades y el arte efímero juegan un papel preponderante en una interrupción de la cotidianeidad de sus habitantes que pasan a ser partícipes de la fiesta.

The article aims to study the receptions that took place during the visits to the reductions of Paraguay, from the missionaries and superiors of the order to the bishops, including the governors. The focus is on these indigenous populations under the care of the Jesuits from the creation of the first reductions until the expulsion. The question we ask ourselves is to what extent the population structures are modified in the face of the celebrations held in the baroque environment where rituals and ephemeral art play a predominant role in an interruption of the everyday life of the inhabitants who become participants in the festivities.
