Nuevos aportes a la interpretación de la cerámica Santamariana Valle Arriba (Salta, Argentina)

Abstract

Se presentan los resultados de investigaciones realizadas a partir del relevamiento de vasijas arqueológicas provenientes del sur del Valle Calchaquí, de las localidades de Tolombón, Cafayate, Animaná y San Carlos, en Salta, actualmente depositadas en el Museo de Antropología de Salta y en colecciones particulares. Se presenta en detalle el análisis de un conjunto de piezas asociadas a una modalidad estilística local del estilo Santamariano, el Valle Arriba-Cafayate, para el Periodo de Desarrollos Regionales (siglos X a XV). En este marco, el objetivo de este trabajo es analizar y sistematizar las expresiones estilísticas que han sido englobadas en la definición de la modalidad Valle Arriba-Cafayate, generar un cuadro de referencia de motivos plasmados en urnas y pucos y aportar nuevos elementos estilísticos y cronológicos. Esto permitirá profundizar los aportes de trabajos previos, ampliar su adscripción temporal e identificar otros elementos definitorios.

The results of research carried out from the survey of archaeological vessels from the south of the Valle Calchaquí, of the towns of Tolombón, Cafayate, Animaná and San Carlos, in Salta, currently deposited in the Museum of Anthropology of Salta and in private collections, are presented. The analysis of a set of pieces associated with a local stylistic modality of the Santamarian style, the Valle Arriba-Cafayate for the period of Regional Developments (X to XV centuries), is presented in detail. The study area was characterized by its geographical location as a link with other neighboring regions: Valle de Lerma, Valle de Yocavil, Puna and Selvas Occidentales. Moreover, it has been defined as an area of direct influence of the Santa Maria Valle Arriba-Cafayate and as a space of geographical confluence of other santamarian modalities: Clásico-Yocavil, Calchaquí and Santa Bárbara-Pampa Grande. In this framework, the objective of this work is to analyze and systematize the stylistic expressions that have been included in the definition of the Valle Arriba-Cafayate modality, generate a reference table of motifs embodied in urns and large bowls and provide new stylistic and chronological elements. This will allow deepening the contributions of previous works, expanding its temporal assignment and identifying other defining elements.
