Un futuro del tamaño del universo: proximidades afectivas y porvenir en Estrella Roja

Abstract

Estrella roja (Bordenave, Argentina, 2022) se compone de archivos y narraciones ficcionales alrededor de los 100 años de la Revolución Rusa. En 2017, la realizadora viaja a Rusia en busca de esos festejos. No los encuentra. Encuentra otras cosas. Encuentra la errancia de algunos personajes anacrónicos, las narraciones de otras explicaciones posibles sobre la vida y la muerte, lo terrenal y lo extraterrestre, la propia revolución, Marx, Marte. “La película responde a la visión de futuro que se transforma en ese arco temporal de un siglo. Pasa de ser un territorio de creación y transformación a ser una oscura perspectiva, un lugar que nos atemoriza” dice Bordenave(2022). La promesa, tal como anticiparon autoras del giro afectivo, ya no tensiona simplemente hacia un porvenir alentador. La física y la ciencia ficción parecen desdibujar fronteras en un film que trama otra temporalidad del relato, desfondando, en su gesto, la crononormatividad que aceptamos como premisa de todo silogismo actual. Los lejanos paisajes afectivos reclaman una respuesta, como apunta Butler, una proximidad. Entre la advertencia de la falta de futuro y la inquietud de la esperanza (Ahmed), el film permite repensar críticas a una temporalidad homogenizante, tanto como la posibilidad de desentrañar esperanzas cifradas en otras tramas afectivas.

Estrella Roja (Bordenave, Argentina, 2022) is made up of archives and fictional narratives around the 100th anniversary of the Russian Revolution. In 2017, the director traveled to Russia in search of these festivities. She doesn’t find them. She finds, though, other things: the wandering of some anachronistic characters, the narratives of other possible explanations about life and death, on Earth and beyond, the revolution itself, Marx, Mars. “The film responds to the vision of the future that is transformed in that temporary arc of a century. It goes from being a territory of creation and transformation to being a dark perspective, a place that frightens us”, says Bordenave (2022). The promise, as authors of the affective turn anticipated, no longer simply stresses time towards an encouraging future. Physics and science fiction seem to blur borders in a film that plots a different temporality of the story, hacking, in its gesture, the chrononormativity that we accept as a premise of all current syllogisms. Here, distant affective landscapes demand a response, as Butler points out, a proximity. Between the warning of the lack of future and the restlessness of hope (Ahmed), the film allows us to rethink the criticism of a homogenizing temporality, as well as the possibility of unraveling hopes encrypted in other affective plots.
