La retórica del sufrimiento en la tematización del debate por la legalización de la interrupción voluntaria del embarazo en la televisión magazine de Argentina

Abstract

En este artículo nos proponemos analizar la tematización del debate en torno a la legalización de la interrupción voluntaria del embarazo (IVE) en los programas de género magazine de la televisión argentina desde 2018 a 2020. Realizamos una reconstrucción de la historia del activismo feminista, su impacto en el espacio público y el incremento de su presencia en la agenda mediática. La reflexión se desarrolló en clave de análisis sociológico del discurso. Analizando emisiones específicas de Intratables y La noche de Mirtha, encontramos un tratamiento dispar en el período del recorte. Observamos que la retórica del sufrimiento se constituye como eje transversal de la tematización de la IVE, produciendo la figura de mujer víctima. Asimismo, reflexionamos en torno a la acumulación de capital moral de ciertos actores, que legitima su posicionamiento social y les constituye como guardianes morales de las experiencias en torno al aborto.

In this article, we propose to analyze the thematization of the debate around the legalization of abortion in Argentine television programs from the magazine genre (2018-2020). We carried out a reconstruction of the history of argentine feminist activism, its impact on the public space and the increase of its presence in the media’s agenda, within the sociological discourse analysis framework. Analyzing specific broadcasts of Intratables and La noche de Mirtha, we found a contrasting treatment in the research time period. We observed that the rhetoric of suffering was constituted as a transversal axis of the thematization of the abortion, producing the figure of the victim woman. Likewise, we analyzed the accumulation of moral capital by certain actors, which legitimizes their social positioning and constitutes them as moral guardians of abortion experiences.
