Parque de depresiones: Fútbol, neoliberalismo y salud mental

Abstract

Este ensayo busca reflexionar sobre los sentidos puestos en juego en el ámbito deportivo sobre la salud mental. Partiendo de recuperar testimonios de futbolistas que narran sus padecimientos mentales, reflexionamos críticamente sobre sus trayectorias deportivas y realizamos un acercamiento genealógico a los abordajes que realizan los clubes deportivos y los organismos internacionales implicados en la práctica. Así, reponemos los debates actuales en el campo de la salud mental y los desafíos de la psicología aplicada al deporte. Nos preguntamos qué tipo de subjetividades se modulan mediante estas propuestas, enmarcadas en un contexto de capitalismo neoliberal, que exige a lxs futbolistas como si fueran mercancía, y crea en ellxs la promesa de que el éxito, el reconocimiento y el prestigio son la única alternativa de la felicidad en su ejercicio profesional y en la forma de vivir el deporte. Finalmente, indagamos en las formas de resistencias colectivas a estos sentidos circulantes.

This essay seeks to reflect on the meanings put into play on mental health in the field of sports. Based on the testimonies of football players who narrate their mental illnesses, we critically reflect on their sporting trajectories, and we make a genealogical approach to the approaches taken by sports clubs and international organisations involved in the practice. In this way, we rethink the current debates in the field of mental health and the challenges of psychology applied to sports. We ask ourselves what kind of subjectivities are modulated by these proposals, framed in the context of neoliberal capitalism, which demands from football players as if they were merchandise, and creates in them the promise that success, recognition, and prestige are the only alternative to happiness in their professional practice and in the way of living sport. Finally, we investigate the forms of collective resistance to these circulating meanings.
