En busca del cine perdido: Archivos y afectos en los proyectos audiovisuales de Joaquín Aras

Abstract

En el presente trabajo nos interesa estudiar el modo en que los distintos proyectos audiovisuales e instalativos del artista argentino Joaquín Aras articulan las memorias frágiles y los sucesivos ejercicios de traducción y apropiación para rescatar y/o producir archivos y experiencias cinematográficas. Así, entre la historia oral, el recuerdo de los espectadores y el hacer artístico, trabajos audiovisuales como los de Aras se preguntan por los modos singulares de agenciamiento de la memoria del cine –más allá de los regímenes institucionales de lo archivable– y por otros modos del contacto afectivo con el medio cinematográfico y su historia. Al mismo tiempo, en estas obras artísticas –que son igualmente ejercicios reflexivos–, las prácticas audiovisuales contemporáneas explorar las expansiones y desarrollos del propio medio a la luz de una historia que le es propia y de un presente y un futuro en constante transformación.

In this work we are interested in studying the way in which the different audiovisual and installative projects of the Argentine artist Joaquín Aras articulate the fragile memories and the successive exercises of translation and appropriation to rescue and/or produce audiovisual archives of cinema. Thus, between oral history, remembrance of the spectators and artistic making, audiovisual works such as those by Aras wonder about the unique ways of agenciating the memory of cinema –beyond the institutional regimes of the archivable– and about other modes of affective contact with the cinematographic medium and its history. At the same time, in these works of art –which are also reflective exercises–, contemporary audiovisual practices explore the expansions and developments of the medium itself in the light of its own history and a present and a future in constant transformation.
