El registro etnográfico de rituales y festividades vinculadas con el ciclo agrícola en el Valle Calchaquí Norte y la memoria del pasado indígena

Abstract

El vínculo entre pasado y presente ha sido un tema largamente debatido desde diferentes enfoques, poniendo en juego las nociones de tiempo, identidad y memoria en las construcciones de sentido que se hacen en torno a las sociedades y sus territorios. Una de las dimensiones a partir de las cuales es posible analizar esta relación es la agrícola, por la importancia que tiene para las sociedades vallistas, tal como ocurre en el sector norte del Valle Calchaquí (Salta, Argentina), referente de esta investigación. Partiendo de la idea de que la importancia de la labranza de la tierra se remonta a tiempos prehispánicos, en este trabajo nos hemos propuesto analizar aquellos aspectos rituales que atraviesan las prácticas de siembra y cosecha contemporáneas, con la intención de que puedan auxiliarnos en la comprensión de los aspectos materiales del pasado. Para ello se ha puesto en relación el registro oral con el registro material en un marco de teoría en donde se destaca la noción de tiempo largo y la importancia de la memoria como dispositivo de resistencia. Las conclusiones a las que llegamos permiten rescatar la idea de fertilidad, definida a partir de las nociones de relacionalidad, complementariedad y reciprocidad, así como discutir su vigencia en la actualidad en tanto racionalidades no hegemónicas que resisten a través del ejercicio de la memoria.

The link between past and present has been a topic long debated from different approaches, bringing into play the notions of time, identity and memory in the constructions of meaning that are made around societies and their territories. One of the dimensions from which it is possible to analyze this relationship is agriculture, due to the importance it has for the valley societies, as it occurs in the northern sector of the Calchaquí Valley (Salta, Argentina), the referent of this research. Based on the idea that the importance of tilling the land dates back to pre-Hispanic times, in this work we have proposed to analyze those ritual aspects that go through the contemporary practices of sowing and harvesting, with the intention of helping us to understand the material aspects of the past. For this purpose, the oral record has been related to the material record within a theoretical framework in which the notion of long time and the importance of memory as a device of resistance are emphasized. The conclusions reached allow us to rescue the idea of fertility, defined from the notions of relationality, complementarity and reciprocity, as well as to discuss its validity today as non-hegemonic rationalities that resist through the exercise of memory.
