Lecturas y tensiones genéricas en El año del desierto de Pedro Mairal

Abstract

Se analizan lecturas de El año del desierto de Pedro Mairal (2005), tanto las que se realizaron en fechas cercanas a las de su publicación como más contemporáneas a la escritura de este artículo. A su vez, se realiza un análisis comparativo entre aquellas lecturas que se han hecho desde una crítica más especializada en género (ciencia ficción y fantástico) y aquellas que pertenecen al campo de la literatura en general. Se observan tensiones entre estas lectura y a su vez dentro de las que incluyen la perspectiva genérica una vinculada con los límites entre la ciencia ficción y el fantástico. La hipótesis es que El año del desierto significó un quiebre tanto dentro del campo especializado como del literario en general por dos motivos que se vinculan: permite recuperar la idea de una tradición y colaborar con la construcción de un campo propio y además permite el ingreso de la literatura de ciencia ficción al ámbito académico-crítico.

Readings of El año del desierto by Pedro Mairal (2005) are analyzed, both those that were made close to its publication dates and those more contemporary to the writing of this article. At the same time, a comparative analysis is carried out between those readings that have been made from a more specialized critic in genre (science fiction and fantastic) and those that belong to the field of literature in general. Tensions are observed between these readings and within those that include the generic perspective, one linked to the limits between science fiction and the fantastic. The hypothesis is that El año del desierto meant a break both within the specialized field and the literary field in general for two related reasons: it allows the idea of a tradition to be recovered and collaborates with the construction of its own field and also allows the entry of science fiction literature to the academic-critical field.
