Objetos del pasado, historias del presente: Nuevos contextos para las piezas cerámicas patrimoniales del Museo Nacional Terry (Tilcara, Jujuy)

Abstract

En este artículo compartimos la experiencia de investigar una colección de objetos sin contexto, perteneciente al Museo Nacional Terry (Tilcara, Jujuy, Argentina). Se trata de objetos y fragmentos cerámicos que hemos podido distinguir como arqueológicos, históricos o actuales, pero de los que no se sabía con precisión cómo han llegado a conformar el acervo patrimonial del museo. Amparándonos en los aportes realizados desde la arqueología y la antropología en torno a la relación dialéctica entre humanos y objetos, partimos de la premisa de que la ausencia de contexto arqueológico no es un impedimento para la investigación. Es por ello que este texto plantea la posibilidad de generar nuevos contextos a partir de relevar narrativas del presente, las cuales se pueden rearticular en historias que añaden capas de significados a los objetos del pasado.

In this article we share the experience of investigating a collection of objects without context that belong to the Museo Nacional Terry (Tilcara, Jujuy). These are ceramic objects that we have been able to distinguish as archaeological, historical or current, but for which it was not known precisely how they came to form the museum’s patrimonial heritage. Relying on the contributions made from archeology and anthropology regarding the dialectical relationship between humans and objects, we start from the premise that the absence of an archaeological context is not an impediment to research. That is why this text raises the possibility of generating new contexts by gathering narratives of the present, which can be rearticulated in stories that add layers of meaning to objects from the past.
