La clasificación filosófica de virtudes de la Ysagoge in theologiam y sus fuentes

Abstract

Este artículo tiene por objetivo analizar la clasificación de virtudes que se encuentra en la Ysagoge in theologiam, un texto anónimo de mediados del siglo XII que puede considerarse como una de las primeras sumas sistemáticas de teología. El interés de esta clasificación es doble: por una parte, ella vale por sí misma en tanto tiene ciertas características originales; por otra, debido a su punto de partida. En efecto, en lugar de seguir la definición de virtud ofrecida por Hugo de San Víctor –que será la adoptada, entre otros, por Pedro Lombardo–, es una de las pocas sumas de la época que toma la que propuso Pedro Abelardo. Ello la convierte no necesariamente es una rareza, pero sí en un eslabón de la historia de la ética cristiana bastante peculiar.

This article aims to analyze the classification of virtues found in the Ysagoge in theologiam, an anonymous text from the mid-12th century that can be considered one of the first systematic sums of theology. The interest of this classification is twofold: on the one hand, it stand by itself as long as it has certain original characteristics; on the other hand, the classification is valuable because of its starting point. In effect, instead of following the definition of virtue given by Hugh of Saint Victor – which will be adopted, among others, by Peter Lombard–, it is one of the few sums of the time that takes the definition proposed by Peter Abelard. This makes it not necessarily a rarity, but a rather peculiar link in the history of Christian Ethics.
