Violencia, derecho y rabia: Una posible filiación entre Walter Benjamin y Hannah Arendt

Abstract

Tras una amistad atravesada por la guerra y el exilio y a pesar de que sus obras se tocan escorzadamente, este artículo parte de la posibilidad de leer un diálogo entre Walter Benjamin y Hannah Arendt en torno a la relación entre poder y violencia. Aunque el primero se había dedicado al tema en los años veinte y treinta y la segunda recién concretamente en el año 1970, el carácter tormentoso del siglo XX no haría más que confirmar sus pronósticos o debatir sus supuestos convirtiendo a la violencia en su rasgo más ostensible. De ahí la relevancia filosófica de recuperar el modo en que estos autores centrales para la filosofía del siglo XX pensaron la violencia y epifenómenos como la rabia y el enojo; a fin de revelar algunas claves sobre lo político contemporáneo que confluyen con renovadas perspectivas críticas como la del llamado “giro afectivo”.

After a friendship traversed by war and exile and despite the fact that their works are touched foreshortenedly, this article starts from the possibility of reading a dialogue between Walter Benjamin and Hannah Arendt about the relationship between power and violence. Although the first had been dedicated to the subject in the twenties and thirties and the second just specifically in the year 1970, the stormy nature of the twentieth century would only confirm their forecasts or debate their assumptions, turning violence into its most ostensible feature. Hence the philosophical relevance of recovering the way in which these central authors for 20th century philosophy thought about violence, and epiphenomena such as rage and anger; in order to reveal some clues about contemporary politics that are combined in an extremely current way with new crítical perspectives such as the so-called "affective turn"
