La vía antigua y la moderna para justificar lo peor: Los argumentos de Aristóteles y de Hobbes a favor de la esclavitud

Abstract

El trabajo apunta a presentar los argumentos de Aristóteles y de Hobbes para justificar la esclavitud. Así, por un lado, se mostrará que Aristóteles intenta defender tal institución bajo argumentos de premisas naturalistas, aunque incongruentes con sus propios fundamentos filosóficos. Por el otro, se señalará que los argumentos de Hobbes apelan a la libertad y el consentimiento, llegando a establecer dos tipos de esclavitud, una de tipo voluntario y otra que no lo es. En consecuencia, con el contraste argumental de ambos autores se podrá diferenciar la vía moderna y la antigua para justificar el esclavismo.

The work aims to present the arguments of Aristotle and Hobbes to justify slavery. So, on the one hand, I have seen that Aristotle tries to defend it on naturals principles, although incongruent with his own philosophical foundations. On the other hand, we will refer to the arguments of Hobbes, with bass in freedom and consent, getting to establish two types of slavery: a type of volunteer and other that is not. Consequently, with the argumentation contrast of both authors we can see the modern and ancient way to justify slavery.
