Del convento al mundo: La normativa en torno al movimiento de los frailes menores hacia 1260

Abstract

Las órdenes religiosas medievales implementaron una serie de dispositivos de control del comportamiento de sus integrantes. En el caso de la Orden de los Frailes Menores la sistematización de las constituciones generales que regulasen la vida de los hermanos llegó con el generalato de fray Buenaventura. El comportamiento de los frailes que se normativizaba afectaba la espacialidad interior y exterior de los conventos. El objetivo de este artículo es analizar en qué medida el comportamiento de los frailes es regulado y condicionado en las directivas impartidas por el capítulo; así como, establecer cuáles son las principales esferas de injerencia sobre el movimiento de los frailes entre el espacio conventual y el exterior y qué pautas de conducta y de punición establecen.

Medieval religious orders implemented a series of devices to control the behavior of their members. In the case of the Order of Friars Minor, the systematization of the general constitutions that regulated the life of the brothers came with the generalship of Fray Buenaventura. The behavior of the friars that was standardized affected the interior and exterior spatiality of the convents. The aim of this article is to analyze to what extent the behavior of the friars is regulated and conditioned in the directives given by the chapter; as well as to establish which are the main spheres of interference on the movement of the friars between the conventual space and the outside and what guidelines of conduct and punishment are established.
