Spinoza y Rousseau sobre la democracia: Soberanía popular y república

Abstract

El presente artículo se estructura en tres tiempos. En primer lugar, se estudia la antropología presente en Spinoza y en Rousseau, como así también su concepción del estado de naturaleza. Luego, se realiza un movimiento idéntico a cuentas de cómo la libertad se estabiliza en el marco de un estado civil y se examina también el deseo colectivo spinoziano y la voluntad general rousseauniana en contrapunto. Finalmente, se pesquisa el papel que la democracia juega en ambos pensadores, esto es, cómo es conceptualizada por ellos y cuán factible consideran su realización.

This article will be structured in three stages. First, it will study the anthropology present in Spinoza and Rousseau as well as their conception of the state of nature. Then, an identical movement will be made on how freedom is stabilised in the framework of a civil state, examining also the Spinozian collective desire and the Rousseaunian general will in counterpoint. Finally, it will investigate the role that democracy plays in both thinkers, i.e. how it is conceptualised by them and how feasible they consider its realisation.
