Entre Moreno y Arlt: Ada María Elflein en la Patagonia

Abstract

La escritora argentina Ada María Elflein (1880-1919) publicó en 1916 en La Prensa una serie de crónicas tituladas “Paisajes cordilleranos” en las que describe un viaje realizado junto a un grupo de mujeres por la zona del Lago Nahuel Huapi. Patrocinadas por la figura de Francisco P. Moreno, Elflein escribe a lo largo de su desplazamiento su experiencia por una región que, hasta el momento, había sido recorrida y representada casi exclusivamente por varones. En este sentido, el objetivo de nuestro trabajo consiste en analizar cómo las crónicas de la escritora periodista se vinculan con lo ya dicho por Moreno sobre la zona cordillerana en su libro Apuntes preliminares (1897), al mismo tiempo que adelantan la mirada turística e industrial que aparecerá casi veinte años después en las “aguafuertes porteñas” que Roberto Arlt escribe para El Mundo como corresponsal.

The Argentine writer Ada María Elflein (1880- 1919) published in 1916 in La Prensa a series of chronicles entitled “Paisajes cordilleranos” in which she describes a trip made by her with a group of women through the Nahuel Huapi Lake area. Sponsored by the figure of Francisco P. Moreno, Elflein writes their experience throughout a region that, until then, had been visited and represented almost exclusively by men. In this sense, the objective of our work is to analyze how the chronicles of the journalist writer are linked to what Moreno has already said about the mountain area in his book Apuntes preliminares (1897), at the same time that they advance the tourist and industrial perspective that will appear almost twenty years later in the “aguafuertes porteñas” that Roberto Arlt writes as a correspondent for El Mundo.
