Lecciones y colecciones de la botánica médica y farmacología argentina en el primer tercio del siglo XX

Abstract

El Museo de Farmacobotánica “Juan A. Domínguez” de la Facultad de Farmacia y Bioquímica de la Universidad de Buenos Aires, con más de 120 años de historia, posee un acervo patrimonial de gran relevancia vinculado a las prácticas científicas y educativas de las primeras décadas del siglo XX. Fundado en 1900 y asociado a la antigua Escuela de Farmacia de la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas, logró tener relevancia científica y ser un importante lugar para la enseñanza de estas disciplinas. En un contexto de expansión de los espacios de formación científica e investigación dentro de la Universidad de Buenos Aires, el Museo se fue enriqueciendo con diversas colecciones para la enseñanza de la botánica médica, botánica farmacéutica, farmacognosia y fitoquímica. De este modo, el objetivo de este trabajo es presentar la cultura material y los diversos saberes y prácticas científico-educativas que se promovieron en dicha época. Al hacerlo, se analizarán diversos aspectos de la producción de contenidos científicos, lecciones y colecciones históricas de enseñanza a través de diferentes fuentes, como las colecciones didácticas, programas de estudio, textos y manuales de enseñanza y documentos históricos que aún se preservan en el Museo.

With more than 120 years of history, the Museum of Pharmacobotany “Juan A. Domínguez” of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry of the University of Buenos Aires has a scientific heritage of great relevance linked to the scientific and educational practices of the early 20th century. Founded in 1900 and associated with the former School of Pharmacy of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, this museum achieved scientific relevance and became an important place for the teaching of these disciplines. In a context of expansion of the spaces for scientific training and research within the University of Buenos Aires, it was enriched with various collections for the teaching of medical botany, pharmaceutical botany, pharmacognosy and phytochemistry. Therefore, this paper aims to present both the material culture and the diverse knowledge and scientific-educational practices that were promoted at that time. In doing so, various aspects of the scientific content production, lessons, and historical collections of teaching will be analyzed through different sources, such as the didactic collections, study programs, teaching texts, and historical documents that are still preserved in the Museum.
