«Estado Pactante» y conflicto por la tierra en Jujuy (Argentina). Anotaciones sobre el litigio en la hacienda de Valle Grande en el siglo XIX

Abstract

Considerando las vertientes historiográficas que subrayan el carácter negociado-pactado del Estado liberal del siglo XIX, en este trabajo se sostiene que la transferencia de la hacienda de Valle Grande (Jujuy, Argentina) de manos de sus propietarios a quienes allí vivían y trabajaban fue una vía de solución a la extendida y compleja disputa por estas tierras. Se analiza en contexto y en contenido la denuncia de 1882 contra los derechos de propiedad allí ejercidos y se reconstruyen los acontecimientos vinculados a la tenencia de la tierra, los actores sociales y las actuaciones desarrolladas entre las décadas de 1830 y 1870, como prueba de esa principal conjetura.

Based on the historiographical aspects that highlight the negotiation-and-agreement nature of the nineteenth-century liberal State, we uphold that the transference of the estate of Valle Grande (Jujuy, Argentina) from its owners to those who lived and worked there was a means to resolve the long and complex dispute over these lands. The work focuses on analysis of the context and content of the property rights complaint of 1882, and attempts to reconstruct the events connected to land tenure, the social actors, and the courses of action taken during the 1830s and 1870s to back up this hypothesis.
