La ciudad desde la nube: Revisar la metodología para re-jerarquizar las fuentes digitales en investigaciones socioterritoriales. El caso de la implementación del PROCREAR (La Plata, 2013-2015) a la luz de las prácticas de su población beneficiaria, perteneciente a las clases medias

Abstract

Este artículo presenta una revisión de la metodología de mi tesis doctoral, en la cual las interacciones generadas en tres grupos de Facebook (FB) fueron recursos estructurantes. Persigo con ello dos objetivos. El primero, reponer el lugar de estas fuentes en la re-formulación del problema de investigación (y los consecuentes hallazgos) así como las dificultades que tuve para emplazarlas y jerarquizarlas como las principales herramientas de producción de datos. Busco, además, reponer los desafíos y las ventajas que impuso la fuente a lo largo de la investigación. El segundo objetivo, analizar la sinergia que se dio entre las fuentes digitales de información, las perspectivas analíticas y metodológicas adoptadas en la tesis. Para ello el trabajo se estructura en tres apartados. En el primero, analizo el rol de las fuentes digitales en la estructuración de mi investigación doctoral y expongo el modo en que trabajé los grupos de FB; en este último punto me detengo tanto en la gestión operativa de los datos, como en el camino recorrido hasta llegar al enfoque metodológico empleado: la etnografía virtual (Hine, 2000). En un segundo apartado, se realiza un balance sobre la fuente centrado en los desafíos y virtudes que presentó durante la investigación. En el tercero, se analiza la sinergia que se dio entre las fuentes digitales de información, el enfoque etnográfico y la sociología pragmática-pragmatista. A lo largo del artículo sostendré que, en un campo de conocimientos intrínsecamente territorial como el de los estudios urbanos, las fuentes digitales de información –en particular, la red social Facebook– se vuelven recursos productivos. Para ello pondré en juego la propia experiencia en el trabajo de campo online a fin de aportar al acervo de reflexiones previas.

This article presents a review of the methodology of my doctoral thesis, in which the interactions generated in three Facebook groups (FB) were structuring resources. We are thus pursuing two objectives. The first, to replace the place of these sources in the re-formulation of the research problem (and the consequent findings) as well as the difficulties I had in locating and ranking them as the main data production tools. We also seek to overcome the challenges and advantages imposed by the source throughout the investigation. The second objective is to analyze the synergy that occurred between the digital sources of information, the analytical and methodological perspectives of the thesis. For this, the work is structured in three sections. In the first, I analyze the role of digital sources in the structuring of my doctoral research and expose the way in which I worked with the FB groups; At this last point, I focus both on the operational management of the data, and on the path traveled to reach the methodological approach used: virtual ethnography (Hine, 2000). In a second section, a balance is made on the source, focusing on the challenges and virtues it presented during the investigation. In the third section, I analyze the synergy that occurred between digital sources of information, the ethnographic approach, and pragmatic-pragmatic sociology. In this regard, I will argue that, even in intrinsically territorial fields of knowledge such as urban studies, digital sources of information become productive resources. However, the article does not seek to carry out novel reflections within the framework of already advanced discussions, but rather to put into play one's own experience in online fieldwork in order to contribute to the collection of meta-reflections on working with this sources.
