Lógicas temporales del poder: Una aproximación a las relaciones entre poder y tiempo social

Abstract

El artículo se plantea como contribución a una teorización sistemática de las relaciones entre poder y tiempo social. Se parte de considerar al tiempo desde una perspectiva sociológica, como un conjunto de prácticas, representaciones y sentidos que se construyen socialmente. Dentro del amplio espectro de cuestiones que pueden plantearse entre el tiempo así definido y el poder, se selecciona en particular la que corresponde al ejercicio del poder y al modo en que hace uso estratégico de variables temporales. Se identifican y describen en concreto diez lógicas temporales del poder: expropiar, priorizar, hacer esperar, sorprender, apurar, dilatar/precipitar, prometer, amenazar, indeterminar y olvidar/recordar. Se postula que cada una constituye una forma cuyo contenido empírico es cambiante y puede situarse tanto a niveles micro como meso y macro del análisis social.

The article is proposed as a contribution to a systematic theorization of the relations between power and social time. It starts from considering time from a sociological perspective, as a set of practices, representations and meanings that are socially constructed. Within the broad spectrum of questions that can arise between the time thus defined and power, the one that corresponds to the exercise of power and the way in which it makes strategic use of temporal variables is selected in particular. Ten temporal logics of power are specifically identified and described: expropriate, prioritize, make wait, surprise, rush, delay / rush, promise, threaten, indeterminate and forget / remember. It is postulated that each one constitutes a form whose empirical content is changing and can be situated at both the micro, meso and macro levels of social analysis.
