Los alcances del territorio: un análisis del uso del concepto en publicaciones científicas de geografía en Argentina

Abstract

Este trabajo busca explorar el uso del concepto de territorio, su problematización analítica y el alcance que se le da en los artículos que se publican en revistas científicas de Geografía editadas por universidades argentinas. Se construyó un corpus analítico de 260 artículos con la palabra “territorio” y otras asociadas en el título, que fue analizado cualitativamente teniendo en cuenta definiciones y usos más habituales del concepto. Los resultados muestran que en el 61 % de los casos no se define el concepto y es usado como referencia geográfica general. En el 24 % se plantea una definición teórica pero no hay una problematización en el análisis del artículo. En el15 % restante hay definición teórica y problematización en el análisis. En estos dos últimos grupos de artículos, se advierte una fuerte influencia teórica de autores brasileros. Por su parte, se advierte una concentración diferencial del último grupo en algunas revistas específicas, lo cual abre preguntas respecto de sus posibles conexiones con las tradiciones académicas de las universidades que las editan.

In this paper we explore how the concept “territory” is used in articles published in scientific journals of Geography edited by universities in Argentina, as well as its analytical problematization and scope. For that purpose, we built an analytical corpus of 260 articles that included the word territory and its associated concepts in the title, and we conducted a qualitative analyzes taking into consideration the most common definitions and uses of the concept. e results show that in 61% of the cases the concept is not defined and is used as a general geographical reference. In 24% of the cases, a theoretical definition is provided but there is no problematization of the concept in the analysis of the article. In the remaining 15 %, there are both a theoretical definition and a problematization of territory in the analysis. In these last two groups of articles, we found a strong theoretical influence of Brazilian authors. Furthermore, the latter group is unevenly concentrated in some specific journals, which raises questions about the universities’ where the journals are based academic traditions and their possible connections with the uses of the concept.
