Imagen y ornamento en la poesía modernista latinoamericana

Abstract

Nos proponemos leer la imagen literaria del fin de siglo latinoamericano en la constelación de las discusiones sobre el ornamento que ordenan pedagogías y redistribuciones del arte en la segunda mitad del XIX en Europa. La imagen abordada desde el gesto ornamental permitiría pensar las divisiones entre el orden estético y el económico; entre el arte y la industria o la decoración, entre el valor de uso y el valor de cambio. Abordaremos así algunos poemas de José Asunción Silva y Rubén Darío a partir de la imagen-camafeo y el debate entre presente y pasado.

Our purpose is to read the literary image of the end of the 19th century in Latin America in the constellation of discussions about ornament that ordered pedagogies and redistributions of art in the second half of the 19th century in Europe. The image approached from the ornamental gesture would allow us to think about the divisions between the aesthetic and the economic order; between art and industry or decoration, between use value and exchange value. We will thus approach some poems by José Asunción Silva and Rubén Darío based on the camafeo image and the debate between present and past.
