La diplomacia de la Revolución: Política diplomática y relaciones internacionales (1810-1815)

Abstract

El presente artículo intenta volver sobre un controvertido problema como lo fueron las relaciones entre Buenos Aires, el punto neurálgico de la Revolución en el Río de la Plata, y las grandes naciones. Aduciremos que estaba allí en disputa una importante tarea nacional de la revolución burguesa: la definición -todavía difusa- de un espacio de acumulación delimitado de cara al mundo. Para ello, colocaremos referente a las relaciones exteriores (instrucciones e informes varios, las gestiones en su debido contexto social y político, partiendo de variada documentación cartas diplomáticas, cartas privadas, documentos del Foreign Office y documentación del Estado). Intentaremos develar así el abanico de posibilidades históricas que la burguesía rioplatense debió contemplar para su tarea revolucionaria

This article returns to a controversial problem such as the relations between Buenos Aires, the main point of the Revolution in the Río de la Plata, and the most important nations. We will argue that an important national task of the bourgeois revolution was there in dispute: the definition -still diffuse- of a space of accumulation delimited face to the world. We will consider the social and political context, and we will analyze the negotiations based on a variety of documentation relating to foreign relations (instructions and various reports, diplomatic letters, private letters, Foreign Office documents and State documentation). We will try to reveal the range of historical possibilities that the Rio de la Plata bourgeoisie had to contemplate for its revolutionary task.
