El mal y el uso de la metáfora en la obra de Hannah Arendt

Abstract

El presente trabajo analiza las metáforas que utiliza Hannah Arendt para referirse al mal acaecido durante el régimen totalitario nazi. A tal efecto, se realiza un comentario general sobre el problema del mal en la obra arendtiana para luego hacer hincapié en el cambio de postura asumido por la pensadora en lo que respecta a su concepción del mal. A continuación, se mencionan, brevemente, las reflexiones sobre el lenguaje metafórico expuestas por Arendt en La vida del espíritu, las cuales servirán de herramientas para poder realizar el análisis del uso de metáforas a la hora de comprender y poner en palabras hechos horrendos sin precedentes.

This paper analyzes the metaphors used by Hannah Arendt to refer to the evil that occurred during the totalitarian Nazi regime. To this end, a general commentary is made on the problem of evil in Arendt’s work, and then emphasis is placed on the change of position made by the thinker with regard to her conception of evil. Next, the reflections on metaphorical language presented by Arend in The Life of the Mind are briefly mentioned, and they will serve as tools to be able to analyze the use of metaphors, to understand and put into words unprecedented horrendous deeds.
