Lingüística y literatura: Una relación más que inevitable

Abstract

Estudiar desde perspectivas lingüísticas los fenómenos del uso del lenguaje observados en textos literarios es una decisión teórico-metodológica que puede suscitar objeciones. Sin embargo, existen numerosos estudios focalizados en destacar el hecho de que la lingüística y la literatura están estrechamente entrelazadas. Este artículo explica el uso alternante de las formas hubiera y hubiese + participio en la novela Bomarzo, de Manuel Mujica Laínez. Consideramos que un análisis lingüístico riguroso fundamentado en los significados básicos de cada una de esas formas y en su contribución al contexto de aparición de las mismas, puede ser de gran interés para los estudios literarios sobre Bomarzo. La hipótesis se sustenta en que el aporte significativo de hubiera y hubiese + participio responde al concepto “grados de confianza” del hablante en la oportunidad de ocurrencia de lo no realizado y que la relación del significado con la forma está muy ligada al significado que hubiera y hubiese + participio tenían en latín, Martínez (1991:201-3). Los principios teóricos y metodológicos que orientan este trabajo se inscriben en la teoría de la Variación lingüística, (García 1985) y (Diver 1995), de acuerdo con los postulados propuestos por Columbia School Linguistic Society (Diver 1995, 2012; Contini-Morava 1995; Reid 1995; Otheguy 1995) y la Etnopragmática, (García 1995); en ese marco adoptamos las herramientas estadísticas Odds ratio y Chi square (χ 2 ). Además, articularemos este estudio con el Análisis del discurso, (Calsamiglia Blancafort y Tusón Vals 1999) y (Narvaja de Arnoux 2009), específicamente con la teoría de la Enunciación literaria, (Filinich 2012, 2013).

Studying the phenomena of the use of language observed in literary texts from linguistic perspectives is a theoretical-methodological decision that can raise objections. However, there are numerous studies focused on highlighting the fact that linguistics and literature are closely intertwined. This article explains the alternate use of the forms hubiera y hubiese + participio in the novel Bomarzo, by Manuel Mujica Laínez. We consider that a rigorous linguistic analysis based on the basic meanings of each of these forms and on their contribution to the context of their appearance, may be of great interest for literary studies on Bomarzo. The hypothesis is based on the fact that the significant contribution of hubiera y hubiese + participio responds to the concept of "degrees of confidence" of the speaker in the opportunity of occurrence of the unrealized and that the relationship of the meaning with the form is closely linked to the meaning that hubiera y hubiese + participio had in Latin, Martínez (1991: 201-3). The theoretical and methodological principles that guide this work are inscribed in the theory of Linguistic Variation, (García 1985) and (Diver 1995), according to the postulates proposed by Columbia School Linguistic Society (Diver 1995, 2012; Contini-Morava 1995; Reid 1995; Otheguy 1995) and Ethnopragmatics, (García 1995); Within this framework, we adopt the statistical tools Odds ratio and Chi square. In addition, we will articulate this study with Discourse Analysis, (Calsamiglia Blancafort and Tusón Vals 1999) and (Narvaja de Arnoux 2009), specifically with the theory of literary Enunciation, (Filinich 2012-2013).
