Madres e hijas en la literatura argentina del siglo XXI

Abstract

La literatura en sus distintas expresiones proporciona diferentes claves para estudiar los procesos y relaciones sociales. En el presente trabajo nos proponemos indagar las representaciones de la maternidad en la literatura argentina del siglo XXI a partir del análisis de novelas y relatos en los cuales el rol materno y, especialmente, el vínculo madre-hija ocupan un lugar preponderante. Considerando que los textos literarios pueden ser objeto de análisis socio-culturales que den cuenta de elaboraciones colectivas de sentido, nos centraremos en las siguientes producciones literarias de cuatro reconocidas autoras argentinas: las novelas La débil mental de Ariana Harwicz y El azul de las abejas de Laura Alcoba; y los cuentos “Nada de todo esto”, en Siete casas vacías, de Samanta Schweblin y “Nada que hacer”, en La arquitectura del océano, de Inés Garland.

Literature in its different expressions provides diverse keys to study social processes and relationships. In the present work we propose to investigate the representations of motherhood in Argentine literature of the 21st century from the analysis of novels and stories in which the maternal role and, especially, the mother-daughter bond occupies a preponderant place. Considering that literary texts can be the object of socio-cultural analyses that give an account of collective elaborations of meaning, we will focus on the following literary productions of four well-known Argentine authors: the novels The feeble mind (La débil mental) by Ariana Harwicz (2014) and The blue of the bees (El azul de las abejas) by Laura Alcoba (2014); and the stories “Nothing of all this” (“Nada de todo esto”), in Seven empty houses (Siete casas vacías), by Samanta Schweblin (2015) and “Nothing to do” (“Nada que hacer”), in The architecture of the ocean(La arquitectura del océano), by Inés Garland (2014).
