El Museo de Memoria en Colombia: disputas por el futuro en la tierra del olvido

Abstract

La Ley de Víctimas y Restitución de Tierras (2011) estableció la creación del Centro Nacional de Memoria Histórica (CNMH), encargado de diseñar el Museo de Memoria, para contribuir a la reparación simbólica de las víctimas del conflicto armado en Colombia. En este artículo, en primer lugar, analizamos cómo desde 2013 las fuerzas militares, así como intelectuales y políticos de derecha, han disputado los consensos políticos alcanzados entre el CNMH y diferentes organizaciones de derechos humanos y de víctimas. En segundo lugar, abordamos los debates políticos, jurídicos e ideológicos sobre el museo, atendiendo a los cambios recientes en los lineamientos políticos del CNMH y las modificaciones en la construcción del guion museográfico y curaduría. Este artículo analiza las implicaciones de despolitizar y obliterar discusiones en torno al futuro en las disputas que se abren sobre el pasado, mostrando cómo el intento de vaciar al museo de cualquier contenido político-ideológico es una manera de silenciar “futuros- pasados” alternativos.

The Law of Victims and Land Restitution (2011) established the creation of the National Center of Historical Memory (NCHM), in charge of designing the Museum of Memory in Colombia. This museum was established to contribute to the symbolic reparation of the victims of the country’s armed conflict. In this article, we analyze how since 2013 the military, as well as right-wing intellectuals and politicians, have disputed the political consensus reached between the NCHM and different human rights and victims’ organizations. This article addresses the political, juridical, and ideological debates around the museum, attending to recent changes in the political guidelines of the NCHM, as well as modifications to the script and curatorship. The article analyzes the effects of depoliticizing and obliterating discussions about the future in the disputes about the past, showing how the attempt to empty the Museum of Memory of any political or ideological content is a way of silencing alternative future pasts.
