Adquisición de segundas lenguas en contextos no formales en Argentina: El español como L2 de hablantes de L1 guaraní y toba

Abstract

En este trabajo analizamos dos situaciones de adquisición del español como segunda lengua (L2) en la Argentina: el caso de hablantes de lengua materna guaraní y toba, que presentan dos particularidades frente a otros estudios de aprendizaje de lenguas extranjeras. Por un lado, la adquisición del español como L2 ocurre en estos casos en un contexto no formal y, por otro lado, se trata de hablantes cuya lengua materna (L1) está muy alejada tipológicamente del español. Esto supone una interacción radical entre propiedades de lenguas distantes entre sí y permite observar de manera novedosa lo que sucede con lenguas mucho menos estudiadas hasta el momento. A partir de datos propios, describimos y analizamos algunas propiedades de la interlengua de estos hablantes y evaluamos sus implicancias para los estudios sobre la adquisición del lenguaje, el contacto de lenguas y la enseñanza de una lengua extranjera, desde el marco teórico de la Gramática Generativa (Chomsky 1981, 1986). Asimismo, argumentamos cómo un estudio de estas características contribuye, además, a reflexionar sobre las representaciones sociolingüísticas acerca de las lenguas no dominantes y su abordaje en el ámbito de las políticas lingüísticas y en las instituciones escolares.

In this paper we analyze two situations of the acquisition of Spanish as a second language (L2) in Argentina: the case of L1 Guarani and L1 Toba speakers, that shows two peculiarities in contrast with other studies of foreign language acquisition. On the one hand, L2 Spanish acquisition in these situations occurs in a non-formal context, and, on the other hand, the L1 of these speakers is, typologically speaking, distant from Spanish. This entails a radical interaction between properties of languages far away from each other and shows, in an original way, what happens with less-studied languages at the present. Based on our own data, we describe and analyze some properties of the interlanguage of these speakers. Furthermore, from the point of view of Generative Grammar (Chomsky 1981, 1986), we evaluate the impact that these properties have on the fields of language acquisition, language contact and foreign language teaching. Additionally, we argue how this type of study contributes to the reflections on sociolinguistic representations of non-dominant languages and their study in the domains of political linguistics and education.
