Candombe blanco: el Partido Socialista y las representaciones étnicas y regionales de los trabajadores durante el peronismo (1945-1955)

Abstract

En este artículo se explorarán las formas de representación sobre los trabajadores por parte del Partido Socialista analizando también la dimensión étnica y regional de las mismas durante el período 1945-1955. Así se rastrearán, tanto el repertorio de ilustraciones que remiten a una iconografía de principios de siglo XX, a través del arquetipo de la figura masculina y de rasgos europeos, hasta las críticas de los que se consideraban como trabajadores “alienados.” También se analizarán formas complejas e híbridas en la gráfica sobre los “rostros” de los trabajadores que remitían a un complejo universo regional. Un interrogante que atravesará el artículo referirá a como se articularon esas representaciones con elementos de clase, género, y cuestiones étnico-regionales en la Argentina del “crisol de razas.” En este trabajo quiero alejarme de narrativas que simplifican las representaciones del PS sobre los trabajadores. Por el contrario, sostendréque el PS elaboró representaciones que coexistieron de forma contradictoria. Estas representaciones complejas que contenían en tensión la homogenización del “color” de la clase obrera, remitían a un fenómeno más profundo: la crisis de la relación entre el PS y los trabajadores y las oscilaciones entre condena, idealización e interpelación de los obreros durante el peronismo.

This article will explore the forms of representation on workers by the Socialist Party also analyzing the ethnic and regional dimension during the period 1945-1955. This article will trace both the repertoire of illustrations that refer to an iconography of the early 20th century, through the archetype of the male figure with European features, to the criticism of those who were considered as "alienated" workers. Also this work will explore the complex and hybrid forms in the graphic on the "faces" of the workers that referred to a complex regional universe. A question that will cross the article will refer to how these representations were related with elements of class, gender, and ethnic-regional issues in the Argentine of the "melting pot." In this work I want to distance myself from narratives that simplify SP’s representations on workers. On the contrary, I will argue that the SP elaborated representations that coexisted in a contradictory way. These complex representations, which contained in tension the homogenization of the "color" of the working class, referred to a deeper phenomenon: the crisis of the relation between the SP and the workers and the oscillations between condemnation, idealization and interpellation of the workers during the Peronism.
