La curiositas en el pensamiento cisterciense: el caso de Aelredo de Rieval

Abstract

O presente artigo tem por objeto analizar a concepção de Aelredo de Rieval teve da curiositas. Tal concepção, no entanto, não pode entender-se cabalmente fora, não apenas de sua época como também da tradição monástica na qual se inscreve, que é a cisterciense. Donde termos dividido o texto em três momentos: 1) noções gerais da curiosidade no século XII; 2) revisão das concepções de alguns pensadores de Cister, contemporáneos ao nosso autor; e finalmente 3) a contribução concreta de Aelredo.

This paper aims to analyse the conception of curiositas in the thinking of Aelred of Rievaulx. That conception, however, cannot be fully understood outside not only of his time but also of the Cistercian tradition to which it belongs. Hence, the text is divided into three items: 1) general notions of curiosity in the twelfth century; 2) a review of the conceptions of some Cistercian thinkers, contemporary to our author; and finally, 3) the concrete contribution of Aelred.
