Entre afectos y algoritmos: Jóvenes, tecnologías y afectividad

Abstract

¿Qué efectos producen las mediaciones tecnológicas en la afectividad? ¿Qué tipos de vínculos habilitan y promueven? Las formas de modular e imaginar las relaciones afectivas se modifican cuando cambian las tecnologías a través de las cuales nos conocemos y mediante las cuales se gestiona la afectividad. Somos las instituciones que atravesamos y los dispositivos que utilizamos. En los últimos años, junto con los feminismos, la teoría del giro afectivo ha reactualizado la discusión epistemológica de las ciencias sociales, al analizar las emociones como fenómenos sociales atravesados por instituciones. Las mutaciones en la circulación en el espacio público se vinculan a la ciudadanía: esas constelaciones de prácticas y creencias vinculadas con la participación en el mundo del consumo, de las experiencias afectivas y de la vida en común. Esto se observa en las redes sociales y apps de citas, productoras de una educación sentimental específica al moldear expectativas de género y formas de vida emergentes para las juventudes. En este escenario, se vuelven centrales las tecnologías de género que cada joven incorpora a su perfil y a sus interacciones.

What effects do technological mediations produce on affectivity? What types of links do they enable and promote? The ways of modulating and imagining affective relationships change when the technologies through which we know each other and through which affectivity is managed change. We are the institutions we go through and the devices we use. In recent years, together with feminisms, the theory of the affective turn has updated the epistemological discussion of the social sciences, by analyzing emotions as social phenomena traversed by institutions. The mutations in the circulation in the public space are linked to citizenship: those constellations of practices and beliefs linked to participation in the world of consumption, affective experiences and life in common. This is observed in social networks and dating apps, producers of a specific sentimental education by shaping gender expectations and emerging ways of life for youth. In this scenario, the gender technologies that each young person incorporates into their profile and their interactions become central.
