El recto camino de la Cruz y de la Espada: Cabildo y la jerarquía católica (1976-1982)

Abstract

El objetivo del presente artículo es analizar la revista Cabildo atendiendo las posiciones asumidas frente a la jerarquía local y al Papa entre 1976 y 1983. Desde un abordaje cualitativo, sensible a la historia del catolicismo, se examina la publicación dando cuenta las críticas contra la jerarquía eclesiástica por su incapacidad para depurar la institución y por su transigencia con la democracia, pero también contra el Papa Juan Pablo II por la mediación por los conflictos limítrofes con Chile y la guerra de Malvinas. Así se concluye dando cuenta con la paradoja presente en unas páginas que se reivindicaban tradicionalistas, pero criticaban fuertemente a las autoridades locales y vaticanas.

The objective of this article is to analyze the Cabildo magazine, taking into account the positions assumed before the local hierarchy and the Pope between 1976 and 1983. From a qualitative approach, sensitive to the history of Catholicism, the publication is examined, accounting for the criticisms against the hierarchy. ecclesiastical for his inability to purge the institution and for his compromise with democracy, but also against Pope John Paul II for mediating the border conflicts with Chile and the Malvinas war. Thus, it is concluded by realizing the paradox present in some pages that claimed to be traditionalists, but strongly criticized the local and Vatican authorities.
