Actualidad, perspectivas y reflexiones en el uso de la biomasa con fines energéticos

Abstract

La biomasa es fuertemente promovida a nivel mundial principalmente por: i) su potencial renovabilidad, constituyendo una fuente de energía promisoria en un contexto mundial de agotamiento de combustibles fósiles; ii) su potencial carbono-neutralidad, imprescindible frente a un proceso de sobrecalentamiento global por aumento de gases efecto invernadero (GEIs) en la atmósfera; y iii) su potencial rol como herramienta de desarrollo local sustentable: al encontrarse como base constitutiva de los ecosistemas por un lado, y en su carácter residual, por otro, está ligada a las configuraciones territoriales y la existencia humana, posibilitando implementar diferentes sistemas de bioenergía y movilizar economías locales. En este breve artículo, dichos aspectos “potenciales” serán analizados y discutidos, observando de manera particular la importancia de la biomasa en el contexto nacional actual y sus perspectivas a futuro.

Overview, prospect and thoughts on the use of biomass for energy purposes Biomass is strongly promoted worldwide mainly for: i) its renewability potential, constituting a promising source of energy in a global context of depletion of fossil fuels; ii) its potential carbon-neutrality, essential in the face of a process of global overheating due to an increase in greenhouse gases (GHGs) into the atmosphere; and iii) its potential role as a tool for local sustainable development: on the one hand, it is the constitutive base of ecosystems, and the other hand, it is linked to territorial configurations and human existence making it possible to implement different systems of bioenergy and mobilize local economies. In this brief article, these "potential" aspects will be analysed and discussed, noting in particular the importance of biomass in the present national context and its future prospects.
