El barrio de Lavapiés (Madrid) visto desde la perspectiva patrimonial: un lugar de resistencia que representa una oportunidad de mejora social

Abstract

En este trabajo se presenta la síntesis de un estudio llevado a cabo en la ciudad de Madrid (España), en torno a las percepciones sociales construidas sobre el barrio céntrico de Lavapiés con base en los valores patrimoniales. El análisis se basó en la identificación de agentes clave y sus significaciones, a partir de una metodología de investigación cualitativa que incluyó la elaboración de un mapeo de agentes, mapas cognitivos y la realización de entrevistas abiertas y en profundidad. El objetivo principal de este trabajo consistió en la elaboración de un diagnóstico actualizado del barrio que pueda ser de utilidad para el desarrollo de propuestas de mejora socioeconómica del patrimonio que permitan la participación de los propios habitan-tes en la toma de decisiones sobre el mismo.

This paper presents the synthesis of a study carried out in the city of Madrid (Spain), around social perceptions built on the downtown neighborhood of Lavapiés based on heritage values. The analysis was based on the identification of key agents and their meanings, based on a qualitative research methodology that included the elaboration of an agent mapping, cognitive maps, and the conduct of open and in-depth interviews. The main objective of this work was the elaboration of an updated diagnosis of the neighborhood that can be useful for the development of proposals for socioeconomic improvement of the heritage that allow the participation of the inhabitants themselves in decision-making about it.
