Los afectos del final. Silencio, escritura y enfermedad en Paris-Austerlitz de Rafael Chirbes

Abstract

Paris-Austerlitz es una novela que Rafael Chirbes escribe entre 1996 y 2015, y que se publica en 2016, pocos meses después de la muerte del escritor. La misma narra una historia de amor transcurrida en París en mediados de los ochenta, entre un joven madrileño y un adulto migrante. Se trata de una relación atravesada por los afectos provocados por el sida, donde la revulsión y el miedo aparecen como motor para una escritura que le lleva al narrador casi veinte años de interrupción y silencio. Desde una perspectiva que prioriza la inscripción de los afectos con los que se nombra el virus VIH, este trabajo analiza cómo Paris-Austerlitz, en el marco de la narrativa de Chirbes, trabaja sobre los silencios de una época ante una epidemia que operó en España distinguiendo entre las vidas atravesadas por la enfermedad, que en el marco de la cultura de la Transición quedarían silenciadas puesto que encarnaban una voz y un cuerpo envejecido para la ciudadanía democrática porvenir, y aquellas otras cuya moral consiguió adaptarse a la cultura del consenso propuesta por la Transición.

Paris-Austerlitz is a novel that Rafael Chirbes wrote between 1996 and 2015, and it was published in 2016, a few months after the writer's death. It narrates a love story between a young man from Madrid and an adult migrant. The story takes place in Paris and it´s relationship traversed by the affects caused by AIDS. The revulsion and fear of contagion appear as the affects for a writing that takes the narrator almost twenty years of interruption and silence. From a perspective that prioritizes the inscription of the affects with the HIV virus is named, this work analyzes how Paris-Austerlitz shows the silences of an epidemic that operated in Spain in a singular way: distinguishing between the lives traversed by the disease, which in the framework of the culture of the Transition would be silenced, because they represented an aging voice and body for the future democratic citizenry.
