La responsabilidad moral como una forma de narrativa

Abstract

El objetivo del presente trabajo consiste en explicar que la responsabilidad moral está subordinada a una forma de narrativa que, a su vez, es dependiente del contexto de atribución. Si el contexto no es lo suficientemente exigente, tal que la reflexión teorética vaya en busca de la fundamentación última de nuestras acciones, entonces el agente puede ser responsable de sus actos. Así, la atribución de responsabilidad moral dependerá de que las explicaciones racionales se refieran a las acciones como siendo intencionales. Así, el carácter narrativo de los juicios acerca de la responsabilidad moral ayuda a entender cómo es posible que dicha responsabilidad sea compatible con el naturalismo, sin pensar que se sustenta en algún poder milagroso. En síntesis, la propuesta de este artículo no radica en que la responsabilidad moral depende de si hay ausencia de control, sino que depende de que uno pueda construir racionalmente un relato a partir de la cual el agente sea capaz tanto de forjar sus acciones futuras, como de reflexionar acerca de las acciones pasadas.

The aim of this paper is to explain that moral responsibility is subordinate to a variety of narrative related to the attribution context. If the context is not demanding enough, such that theoretical reflection goes in search of the ultimate foundation of our actions, then the agent may be responsible for his actions. Thus, the attribution of moral responsibility will depend on whether rational explanations refer to actions as being intentional. Thus, the narrative character of the judgments about moral responsibility helps to understand how it is possible that such responsibility is compatible with naturalism, without thinking that it is sustained by some miraculous power. In short, the proposal of this paper does not lie in the fact that moral responsibility depends on whether there is an absence of control, but rather that it rests on whether one can rationally construct a narrative from which the agent is capable of both forging his future actions, and to reflect on past actions.
