A influência do Romantismo nos primeiros escritos de estética de John Dewey

Abstract

Até o momento presente pouca atenção foi dada pelos intérpretes de John Dewey para a estética desenvolvida em seus primeiros escritos, e menos ainda se estudou as relações de influência que o pensador estadunidense recebeu da filosofia romântica — especialmente britânica — de final do século XIX. Assim sendo, a presente investigação busca abordar o tema recuperando e esclarecendo alguns desses vínculos a partir de pontos em comum que o filósofo compartilhou com esses outros pensadores.

Until the present moment, little attention has been paid by John Dewey’s interpreters to the aesthetics developed in his early writings, and even less has been studied the relationships of influence that the American thinker received from Romantic philosophy – especially British – at the end of the 19th century. In this way, the present investigation seeks to approach the theme by recovering and clarifying some of these links from points in common that the philosopher shared with these other thinkers.
