Contributions to the knowledge to the genus Physcomitrium (Bryophyta, Funariaceae) in the Northwest of Argentina

Abstract

In this work the range of distribution of the Physcomitrium genus in the Northwest of Argentina is updated. The treatment includes the taxonomic review of three species reported for the area: P. lorentzii, P. subsphaericum and P. thieleanum. They are characterized by symmetrical and erect capsules, cupulate to urceolate and gymnostomous, inmersed or exerted and mitrate calyptra. Two taxonomic keys are proposed, one to the genera of Funariaceae ocurring in the Neotropics and in Argentina and the other to the species herein treated. Descriptions, illustrations and distribution maps are provided for the latter species.

En el presente trabajo se actualiza el rango de distribución del género Physcomitrium en la Argentina. El tratamiento incluye la revisión taxonómica de tres especies reportadas para el noroeste del país, P. lorentzii, P. subsphaericum y P. thieleanum que se caracterizan por las cápsulas simétricas y erectas, cupuladas a urceoladas y gimnostomas, inmersas o exertas y caliptra mitrado- rostrada. Se presentan 2 claves taxonómicas artificiales, una para el reconocimiento de los géneros de Funariaceae presentes en el neotrópico y en la Argentina y otra de las especies aquí tratadas; se adicionan sus descripciones e ilustraciones y un mapa de distribución de las especies representadas en el país.
