Ada Elflein: archivo y patrimonialización

Abstract

Este artículo describe los rasgos generales de un patrimonio literario recientemente rescatado de los archivos: los cuentos hasta ahora nunca “levantados” de La Prensa de la escritora germano-argentina Ada María Elflein (1880-1919). Con un proceso de canonización muy desparejo (una veintena de cuentos varias veces reeditados y otros directamente inaccesibles y en riesgo de desaparición material), esta obra se caracteriza por albergar y sostener a lo largo de los catorce años de su desarrollo una dualidad: textos nacionalistas, modélicos y moralizantes (los menos en cantidad pero los más difundidos) coexisten con otros que abogan, en cambio, por la defensa de sujetos subalternizados y/o temas relegados de la historiografía dominante. Este artículo intenta ofrecer una mirada panorámica sobre este amplio acervo --organizable en cuatro grandes grupos (notas históricas, relatos de viaje, cuentos del siglo XIX y cuentos del siglo XX-- en proceso de patrimonialización.

This article describes the general features of a literary oeuvre recently rescued from the archives: the texts written by the German-Argentine Ada María Elflein (1880-1919), originally published in the newspaper La Prensa and –most of them– never re-edited. With a very uneven canonization process (about twenty stories republished several times and others directly inaccessible and at risk of material disappearance), this literary work is characterized by a sustained duality throughout its fourteen years of development: nationalist texts, exemplary and moralizing (the fewest in number but the most widespread) coexist with others who advocate, instead, for the defense of sub-alternized subjects and/or themes historically relegated. This article attempts to offer a panoramic view of this extensive collection. Organized into four large groups (historical notes, travel stories, stories from the 19th Century and stories from the 20th Century), this oeuvre is currently in the process of being patrimonialized.
