Innatismo: el vínculo entre la psicolingüística chomskiana y la biología del desarrollo

Abstract

El innatismo en la psicología cognitiva ha sido severamente cuestionado desde diversos frentes. Se ha cuestionado las entidades a las que se aplica el innatismo, la concepción misma que la psicolingüística, y en general las psicología cognitiva, utiliza de ‘innato’ y también los argumentos que se han dado para fundamentar las posiciones innatistas. En el presente trabajo me propongo hacer frente a ciertas críticas acorde con las cuales el innatismo respecto del lenguaje es explicativamente vacuo, al mismo tiempo que es inconsistente con el estado actual de la biología del desarrollo. Para ello, en el primer apartado intento indagar ciertas maneras inadecuadas de concebir las posiciones innatistas en psicolingüística, con el fin de esclarecer cuál es el uso que esta disciplina realmente hace de la noción y a qué entidades la aplica. En el segundo apartado evalúo una interesante propuesta de fundamentación biológica del innatismo, desarrollada por Ariew (MS), e introduzco algunas sugerencias que permitirían recoger con mayor precisión características significativas del enfoque chomskiano de adquisición del lenguaje.

Nativism in cognitive science has been severely questioned. Some theorists have questioned the entities that psycholinguistics and specially the cognitive psychology have said to be innate. Others have questioned the utility of the innate conception. And, others have questioned the foundations in favor of the innate hypothesis. This work tries to face some criticism which poses the nativism language is explanatory empty and inconsistent with the state-of-the-art of the developing biology. To do so, firstly we attempt to analyze certain inadequate ways of conceiving the innate views within the psycholinguistics so as to clarify the real use of the concept and to what entities it is applied. Secondly, an interesting proposal of the nativism biological foundations by Ariew (1996, 1997, MS) is assessed. Finally, we introduce some suggestions which would enable to take more precisely the meaningful characteristics of the language acquisition from Chomsky's view.
